New legal form: KWS SAAT AG is now KWS SAAT SE
Entry of the new legal form in the commercial register means that conversion of KWS SAAT AG into a European Stock Corporation (Societas Europaea/SE) is now legally effective. †
Following adoption of the change at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting in December 2014, the conversion is now complete. The company now operates under the name KWS SAAT SE. Einbeck in Lower Saxony is still the headquarters and the most important location of KWS SAAT SE.
The change in legal form is intended to reflect the plant breeding company’s strong international growth and to emphasize its large footprint in Europe. In addition, the interests of European employees will be represented by an additional European body at KWS as an SE.
The identity of the legal entity will remain the same, i.e. conversion to an SE will not have any impact for shareholders, business partners, customers or employees of KWS. All contracts will remain in effect as they are. The shareholders of KWS SAAT AG are now shareholders of KWS SAAT SE, effective entry of the change in the commercial register. The conversion will have no effect on trading of the shares on the stock market.
KWS will again increase its headcount in the current fiscal year 2014/2015. KWS employed 4,850 people worldwide last year, 1,750 of them in Germany, and posted net sales of around €1.2 billion.
KWS is one of the world's leading plant breeding companies. More than 4,800 employees in 70 countries generated net sales of € 1.178 billion in fiscal 2013/2014. For more than 150 years KWS has operated as an independent company with a tradition of family ownership. Its main areas of work lie in the breeding of varieties and the production and sale of seed for corn, sugarbeet, cereals, potatoes, oil-seed rape and sunflower. The company invests 13 percent of its annual net sales in research and development. KWS uses state-of-the-art plant breeding methods and technologies to continuously improve variety yields and resistances to diseases, pests and abiotic stress.
