Claus Schmoldt, Krummendeich

For Claus Schmoldt, an independent farmer from the Elbe, the best part of his job is this: the season dictates what to do. He has no boss. This is much easier for him to accept. Even so, for farmers, the seasons do cause stress or sleepless nights. But Claus Schmoldt is still happier this way. One lesson he learned immediately: let it go. Not every year will be perfect. Too much rain in the tillage or too much heat in the vegetation: agriculture is too complex for everything to go perfectly. The knowledge of several generations and innovative techniques help him to make the best out of every situation. And of course, his grandfather also had good and bad harvests.
