Weed Resistance management
Guidance for proactive weed resistance management
No history of weed resistance in the field:
Use the recommended CONVISO® ONE scheme.
Weed resistance observed or suspected:
1. Determine the weed species which are affected
2. Identify alternative efficient mode of action
3. Apply CONVISO® ONE in tank-mixtures or in sequence with other non-ALS inhibiting herbicides active to the resistant weed.
In case ALS resistance or the risk to develop it is considered as not manageable:
Do not use CONVISO® SMART system on this field.
Weed resistance management
As a general rule, overreliance on the same herbicide mode of action increases the selection pressure and might lead to the development of herbicide resistance overtime. Within a crop rotation several measures are available to proactively reduce this risk.
Four practices contribute most to weed resistance
Weed resistance is a global problem and it is growing over the last few years. Resistances develop easily under situations of high selection pressure. This can be when you always use the same method to control a weed, eventually you will select for individuals that can survive. Therefore always keep the 4 principles in mind for a successful weed resistance management strategy.
