Seasonal positions
We employ a number of Harvest Assistants each year. Positions are usually available from June until November, though we do have some work available in the Spring.
The role could include: field recording, seed cleaning, weighing trials samples, hand harvesting of plants, threshing single plants and bunches of sheaves or plants, preparation of seed for drilling, assisting with combining or driving a tractor.
We have also positions within our Seed Plant.
Production Assistant roles could include responsibilities for forklift operations (loading/unloading lorries, moving and compiling stock), stacking pallets, operating bagging equipment and pallet wrapping machines alongside general warehouse duties.
General Information
Our contracted working week is 40 hours. The working day begins at approximately 8am -the start time is team dependent. In addition there will be a requirement to work overtime, including Saturdays as necessary, in the busy periods. It is essential that you are able to work overtime.
You will need to be physically fit and because the operations generate a certain amount of dust, the work may be unsuitable for asthma sufferers. Protection against dust, noise and other hazards is provided where appropriate.
A full driving licence is preferred but not essential.
