Virtual cultural moment: "Spring Awakening" with actress Julia Hansen in the new rooms of NEWCOMER KWS Art Workshop

Einbeck, 03.06.2021

A virtual cultural moment has now been created in the new premises of the NEWCOMER KWS Art Workshop right next to the Art Lounge in Tiedexer Straße in Einbeck: a video entitled "Spring Awakening - Reading with Julia Hansen". The actress and singer recites German and English poetry on the beginning of spring. "Poetry is music, is rhythm, is emotion captured in linguistic images," says Julia Hansen at the beginning of the roughly one-hour video, which can be found on the Art at KWS YouTube channel until June 17.

Works to be heard include William Shakespeare (1564-1616) "Sonnet 98", William Blake (1757-1827) "Spring", Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843) "Der Frühling", Novalis (1772-1801) "Es färbte sich die Wiese grün", Heinrich Heine (1787-1856) "Leise zieht durch mein Gemüt", Eduard Mörike (1804-1875) "Er ist's", Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (1830-1886) "A Light Exists in Spring", Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) "Vorfrühling", or Joachim Ringelnatz (1883-1934) "Maiengruß an den Redakteur". The English texts were suggested by colleagues at KWS. Poetry opens up an enchanting world, says Julia Hansen, who wants to give a small impression of what poets and thinkers have said about spring in past decades and centuries.

Actress and singer Julia Hansen was born in southern India and grew up in Somalia and Zambia. At the age of 15, she came to Germany with her family and has lived in Göttingen for many years. She studied acting, singing and dance at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen. In 1999 she went to the Deutsche Theater Göttingen as a permanent ensemble member. Since 2011 she has been working as a freelance actress on German stages, literary festivals and in concert halls. Since this year, Julia Hansen is the artistic director of the new "Kulturkrafttage" in Einbeck. She also performs on stage as a singer of jazz standards with her own German lyrics and has released several CDs. In 2013 she founded the nine-piece band "The Three Sisters". As a narrator, she has been active for several years in readings with Christian Brückner, Charles Brauer, Denis Scheck and Heikko Deutschmann, among others, as well as for audio book and radio productions.

In agriculture, KWS works in harmony with the seasons. Just as the reading adapts to the rhythm of the seasons and focuses on spring, KWS adapts to the rhythm of the seasons in research, production, distribution, and communication with customers, as well as in all other operational processes. Poetry as art builds a bridge across nature between employees from a wide range of areas in the laboratories, fields, and offices to farmers.

The NEWCOMER KWS Art Workshop in Tiedexer Straße directly next to the Art Lounge in downtown Einbeck is currently still being completed. As the name "Workshop" suggests, it is intended to be a place of creativity that is being built piece by piece. A few small things are still missing before these rooms with their different possibilities can be opened for employees and visitors to become creative in many ways.

With the video, which you can watch on the Art at KWS YouTube channel until June 17, KWS would like to shorten the time till real events can take place again and create a mood for spring with the reading in this virtual cultural moment.
