Young researchers receive many awards for their forward-looking answers

Einbeck, 26. April 2025:

This afternoon, an exciting ceremony marked the conclusion of the 22nd Lower Saxony state competition “Jugend forscht junior” at PS.SPEICHER in Einbeck. After two intense days, during which the 79 young researchers presented and explained their 43 scientific projects multiple times to the members of an interdisciplinary jury, the winners were announced today. First, second, and third prizes, as well as numerous high-quality special awards, were given in seven fields (Working World, Biology, Chemistry, Geo and Space Sciences, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics, and Technology).

Valentina Holle, who is responsible as the state competition director for the proper execution of the popular competition, emphasized during the ceremony, looking at all the young researchers: "For almost one year, you have been working on your projects, you have completed the elaborate registration process, and you have all stood on stage as winners at least once. Congratulations on your success in this special competition. Here in Einbeck, you are the talents that the Jugend forscht motto 'We promote talents' is all about."

Stephan Krings, Head of Global Marketing & Communication at KWS, and Lothar Meyer-Mertel, Managing Director of PS.SPEICHER, expressed their great admiration for the projects of the young researchers in their engaging speech to the guests. “The contributions we have seen here reflect forward-looking questions that our society is currently facing: Nature, environment, climate protection, healthy nutrition, energy, mobility – just to name a few”, said Lothar Meyer-Mertel. The solution proposals from the young scientists, their curiosity, and visionary thinking give us great hope for the future, added Stephan Krings: “The motto of this year's competition round was: Turn questions into answers. We are very confident that your generation will find many answers to the current and future challenges that lie ahead of us.” KWS and PS.SPEICHER have been sponsoring companies for the state competition for four years.

For the young researchers in the junior age group between nine and 14 years, the competition ends with participation in Einbeck. The older participants of Jugend forscht (up to 21 years) already presented their projects a few weeks ago in Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

For the winners there, the competition will conclude with the federal finals from May 29 to June 1, 2025, in Hamburg.
