The apprentices began with an introductory week. The program included getting acquainted with the company culture and values, IT training and a tour of operations. The career starters not only met their specialist trainers, but also their “buddies” — apprentices in their second year of training who act as a kind of mentor to make their new colleagues’ entry into the company easier.
Unlike in previous years, KWS welcomed the new apprentices in four smaller, occupation-specific groups. Yvonne Knaak-Schweiß, apprenticeship coordinator at KWS, stated emphatically: “I’m really pleased to be welcoming this group of dedicated, talented apprentices. As one of the largest apprenticeship companies in southern Lower Saxony, we take our responsibility very seriously. We feel it’s important to offer good career prospects to school graduates from the region.”
KWS provides training in commercial, industrial-technical and science professions. The company also offers dual study programs in the fields of business administration, business informatics and computer science. Those interested in starting an apprenticeship in August 2021 can apply now. You can find additional information at www.kws.de/karriere.
About KWS*
KWS is one of the world’s leading plant breeding companies. In the fiscal year 2018/19, more than 5,500 employees in 70 countries generated net sales of EUR 1.1 billion and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of EUR 150 million. A company with a tradition of family ownership, KWS has operated independently for more than 160 years. It focuses on plant breeding and the production and sale of seed for corn, sugarbeet, cereals, rapeseed, sunflowers and vegetables.
