Einbeck, May 28, 2008 - The seasonal business of the KWS SAAT AG seed company (ISIN: DE0007074007) has developed very positively in the 2008 sowing period. Sales and earnings forecasts were exceeded. In the first nine months of the 2007/2008 fiscal year, Group sales increased by around 13% to €483.6 million (previous year: €428.3 million). The operating result (EBIT) increased by 2.5% to €93.8 million (previous year: €91.5 million). A weaker than expected sugarbeet business was more than offset by higher corn, rapeseed and grain sales.

At the end of the fiscal year (as of June 30, 2008), the Executive Board anticipated sales growth to be approx. €585 million (previous year: €540 million) and an increase in the operating result (EBIT) of about 10% (previous year: €63.9 million).
