Fully exploit the potential of innovative varieties and generate clear recommendations for day-to-day work, for example on fertilization, weed control or sowing rates: The myKWS vitality check tool makes an important contribution to making agriculture more sustainable and to securing and increasing yields. The functionality of the application has now been further optimized and expanded in a number of areas.
With an improved biomass display, the vitality of the crop can now be measured and displayed over the entire cultivation year. Cooperation and access to data from YARA, an internationally active manufacturer of fertilizers, make that possible. The unique YARA N-Sensor Index calculates the general state of health of plants based on the light they reflect. Even in late growth phases, thanks to the high data quality, changes in the biomass can be seen and differences within a plot can be differentiated, so that farmers can take individual agronomic measures for different zones in a field at any time.
In addition, myKWS users can now also access a YARA nitrogen uptake map for their crops. The nitrogen uptake of the plants is measured in kilograms per hectare, and farmers can measure the accumulated nitrogen uptake – represented by different colors on the map – throughout the development of the plant until maturity and adjust their fertilization in an even more targeted manner, if necessary.
